Kanuka Planting at Matariki West End site

On Sunday a group of Volunteers planted 100 Kanuka seedlings in the Matariki paddock at the West End of the reserve. We enjoyed a springlike morning – perfect for planting – before the rain arrived in the afternoon. It will be exciting to watch this area develop as we plant more kanuka and other dryland native species here over the coming years.

A huge thank you to The Lions Foundation and Te Uku Rākau for their support of the Matariki Kanuka planting project.

Down by the River donations
As a result of donations collected at the very enjoyable Down by the River event we were able to purchase two special saws and some much needed secateurs. An anonymous donor enabled us to purchase a good strong wheelbarrow suitable for wheelbarrowing aggregate and other heavier tasks. Thank you for this support.
