Transplanting remnant wetland herbs

This week Kate, Heidi and Geoff took small plugs of remnant wetland herbs from the swale and transplanted them to the fen at the East End of the reserve. They are all representative wetland plants well suited to the damp fen environment.

These included: Potentilla anserinoides, (Silver weed) Triglochin striata, (Arrowgrass) Eleocharis acuta (Charm of the swamp) Myriophyllum propinquum (Common Water Millefoil), Hypericum pusillum (Native St John’s Wort).

We can’t wait to see how they go in the fen!

Heidi also spotted a plume moth while we were planting. Check out Heidi’s extensive observations at Silverstream Reserve on inaturalist here.
